    Korean National Ballet

    As Korea’s first professional ballet company created in 1962, it has the country’s best dancers and a repertoire composed of the world-renowned titles. To keep abreast of the world’s major ballet companies, the Korean National Ballet tries to substantially upgrade the skills and level of its dancers by inviting famous choreographers and trainers. The Korean National Ballet also continually develops its’ performances by adding to its existing classical repertoire works with different colors such as neo-classic and modern ballet. Instead of simply settling for being the best ballet company in the country, Korea National Ballet is working hard to establish itself as Asia’s best and aims to bring global publicity to Korean ballet.

    As Korea’s representative art group created in 1962, Korea National Opera has contributed to the development of Korean culture and arts by presenting high-class opera. With a view to realizing the upright ideals of opera, the foremost art genre as human heritage, Korea National Opera has since its creation worked to introduce to the local stage premiere productions of the world’s famous opera titles that vividly feature the history of Europe, while continuously discovering new opera titles that carry Korean sentiments and culture.

    The National Chorus of Korea

    The National Chorus of Korea is a professional choir founded in 1973 in pursuit of professionalism and artistic quality for Korea’s choral music, and is Korea’s leading professional chorus which has played a pivotal role in the development of choral music, as well as pioneering the full-scale choral arts movement. The Chorus has a wide repertoire ranging from Renaissance music to contemporary music. Also, the Chorus not only extensively engages in all genres of choral music by presenting all world-famous choral songs on the stage, but also makes efforts in presenting and distributing creative songs by commissioning cantata composition and holding creative choral work contests. The National Chorus of Korea contributes to globalization of Korean choral music through overseas performances in Europe, the USA, China, Japan and so on, while performing over 70 times every year. The National Chorus of Korea is currently led by Eui Joong YOON, who is the 10th Artistic Director.

    Korea National Contemporary Dance Company

    As a foundation created in August 2010 with a view to contributing to the promotion and universalization of contemporary dance by spearheading the country’s contemporary dance and prodding Korean contemporary dance’s advancement into global stage, Korea National Contemporary Dance Company is affiliated with Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism. The Company is planning various projects to contemplate modern life through dance as a contemporary art and thereby present artistic visions and alternatives. Also, for the purpose of developing into a world-class dance company, it is striving to build repertoire by creating a professional programming and production system for artistic creation and fostering young choreographers, who are to shoulder the future of Korean dance, into creators.

    Korean Symphony Orchestra

    Having launched as a 100% private orchestra created in 1985, the Korean Symphony Orchestra plays a crucial part in the history of Korean orchestra through its minimum 90 performances each year. Through its performances with Korea National Opera, Korean National Ballet, and the National Chorus of Korea, the Orchestra has established its specialty while being recognized as Korea’s only orchestra specializing in opera and ballet. As a permanent resident orchestra within Seoul Arts Center, it is actively participating in performing its major programs, principal concerts for the country’s classical music community, and various performances designed to popularize classical music. Meanwhile, the Orchestra participates in local performances by world-class musicians and meets audiences through diverse mediums such as the recording of classical music and movie soundtracks, and concerts with famous pop artists.

    Seoul Performing Arts Company

    Seoul Performing Arts Company is a national art group affiliated with Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism that has since its creation in 1986 led the development of Korean performing arts. Through its art form called ‘gamugeuk’ or Korean-style musical, Seoul Performing Arts Company presents contemporary and high-quality works based on Korean subject matters and styles, while as a temporary resident organization with SAC, it stages new works and repertoire performances through its annual presentations. Furthermore, as a national art group, the Company carries out tours outside the Seoul metropolitan region and in culturally disadvantaged areas, while serving as Korea’s cultural mission through international exchanges like overseas performances.
